The 10 Best Skincare Brands for Men in 2025, Tested by an Expert

In recent years, the men’s grooming industry has been exploding, with new products seemingly dropping every week. As a result, there have never been more brands available, and choosing which to try has never been more overwhelming. The shelves are packed with a selection of skincare products which, let’s get real, can feel a little daunting. The good news is that there are now plenty of options out there for every guy, but cutting through the noise to find what actually works can be a hassle. To ease this decision-making tension when choosing serums, moisturizers, soaps, or other grooming products, this is what to keep in mind before landing on a brand.

What to Consider

Products Available

Being a great skincare brand doesn’t necessarily mean all-encompassing. Not every label offers every product, and this is a good thing. I love a wide selection, but nobody can nail everything, even the greats (further reading: Michael Jordan’s baseball career). Instead, look for brands that have perfected their corner of the skincare world with key products that are specialized to certain objectives, like Bevel with reducing shave irritation or La Roche-Posay with sensitive-skin friendly creams. This will result in the highest quality options for every skincare need.

Price Point

Let’s be honest, for many dudes, this is really the main concern when it comes to buying skincare products. Prices can vary substantially across categories, with one moisturizer costing $20, like Marlowe’s No. 128, and another surpassing $50, like Medik8’s C-Tetra Day Cream. Does this mean Medik8 is $30 better and more effective? Not necessarily, but the pricer you go, typically the more specialized the formulas are. So it really comes down to personal preference, need, and budget.

$ – Effective Basics ($20 and Under)

These are generally the basics. That’s not to say they’re lower-quality, just simpler formulas with more wide-ranging attributes. For example, Marlowe’s No. 121 Facial Cleanser is $14, and is uber effective for all skin types. However, if your skin tends to be especially oily and you want a cleanser with a cologne-quality scent, look to Aesop’s Amazing Face Cleanser for $35, which would find itself in the next cost bracket. Speaking of…

$$ – Specialized Formulas ($20-$50)

In this range, you’ll find plenty of specialized formulas and quality scents. To combat fine lines and wrinkles, especially if you also have sensitive or dry skin, the La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Hyaluronic Acid Serum is ideal. However, to provide that level of additional elasticity to your skin without aggravating it, you have to spend a bit more, which is why it’s $39. The same goes for Atwater’s Eye Armor anti-aging eye cream. This $32 tube offers nourishment and hydration to fight puffiness and wrinkles at a level lower priced eye creams might struggle with.

Still, the products you’ll find in this range aren’t the most expensive available. Instead, they’re more mid-tier when it comes to cost. Think of them like a frisky four or five-seed team that can absolutely make a run in the NCAA tournament, rather than the favorite ones or twos—those would be your luxury options.

$$$ – Luxury Options (Above $50)

Now we’re in the high-end zone. If you’re looking at one skincare product that’s over $50, it’ll either be in a humongous Costco-type container or offering a level of luxury other products simply cannot. There is no shame in surpassing these options if you’re on a budget or have fairly uncomplicated skin with minimal long-term concerns. Just as there is also nothing wrong with indulging for those who are able. You won’t find many night creams more skin-firming or youth-boosting than the Medik8 Advanced Night Ceramide, which is why it’s $76.

How We Selected

As a grooming editor, I’m constantly putting skincare products to the test and evaluating their feel and efficiency. It is quite literally my job. In fact, I drop a recurring column on the latest and greatest new products in the field, so it’s safe to say that I’m up to date on brands and their skincare offerings. For this story specifically, I consulted with my fellow Men’s Health editors, including Deputy Commerce Editor Christian Gollayan and Style and Commerce Editor Joseph Cheatham, on their overall favorite products and which brands they tend to prioritize when searching for skincare. I also considered top-rated options on e-commerce sites we trust, and cataloged the brands that have consistently ranked high in our other various skincare product roundups.

In all, I’ve personally tested moisturizers, serums, night creams, eye creams, soaps, body washes, and other skincare essentials from over 50 brands to determine which regularly put out the products with the cleanest, most beneficial ingredients, non-irritating formulas, smoothest, best feeling applications, and long-term effectiveness. Armed with this extensive testing, research, and expertise, I honed in on the following ten brands as the best skincare product producers on the market today.
