The 10 Best Drugstore Serums Under , Tested and Reviewed

For most of my life, I equated a “good serum” with an “expensive serum.” I bought into the idea that if a bottle didn’t come in luxe packaging with a three-digit price tag, it couldn’t possibly deliver real results. Then I became a beauty editor and began testing everything—with the background knowledge of what skincare ingredients do and how they work—and that belief unraveled quickly. What I’ve discovered? Some of the most effective face serums live at the drugstore.

Drugstore serums have always been good, but they’ve leveled up even more over the past decade. You can now find formulas with vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, retinol, peptides, and barrier-repair ingredients for a fraction of what prestige brands charge. And they’re not watered-down versions, either. Many are developed in the same labs (yes, really!), by the same chemists, and designed to solve the same skin concerns: dehydration, fine lines, discoloration, breakouts.

What I love about this category is how accessible it makes skincare. For results, you need consistency. (Did you know a vitamin C serum should be used completely within two months?!) When you can afford to actually finish a bottle and repurchase it, that’s when you can visibly see the benefits in your skin. Below are the drugstore serums I genuinely use and recommend to everyone in my life.
