A bride is reeling after her makeup artist ghosted her on the morning of her wedding.
In a post on Reddit’s Wedding Drama forum, the bride explained the stressful situation that nearly ruined her nuptials. After accepting a deposit for the big day, her makeup artist pulled out of the wedding just hours before she was supposed to start the job.
“The morning of our wedding I woke up and read a message from our makeup artist saying she couldn’t make it , just a quick sorry can’t come and that was it,” the bride wrote. “At first I thought it’s a prank because she was confirming details with me all week. But then my sister showed me her ig story and I started to panic.”
After checking the woman’s social media, she couldn’t believe what she saw. “She was posting from a beach vacation full glam, cocktail in hand, while I was sitting in a hotel robe losing it.”
Her maid of honor called the professional multiple times and reached out repeatedly through social media, but still didn’t receive a response.
Desperate for options, the wedding party began calling all the salons nearby, but nothing was available, the bride wrote. Luckily, her cousin’s plus-one, who had some experience doing makeup for events, stepped in at the last minute to help.

“She pulled up to our hotel with her kit and did an amazing job,” the bride wrote. “Literally saved my a** but I still can’t believe how good she was under that kind of pressure.”

Other users in the comments suggested the bride look into the legal aspect of the makeup artist withdrawing on such short notice and effectively breaching the contract between them. Similarly, users recommended leaving reviews in “as many places as you can” so that other brides can dodge the same experience.
One commenter suggested to other people getting married to get wedding insurance, which will help mitigate any lost funds in this kind of unfortunate event. Still, others noted, insurance doesn’t help find a new professional on short notice.
“I’m a longtime makeup artist and that is completely unacceptable. I can’t believe she did that to you at the last minute. I’m so sorry that happened to you. That had to be so stressful.”
