Skin care brand CeraVe is branching out into hair care with a series of new campaign spots for its new “Head of CeraVe” initiative. While the campaign spots will feature collaborations with such high-profile figures from pop culture and sports as Anthony Davis and Charli D’Amelio, CeraVe is also planning a campaign with “Saturday Night Live.”

The “Head of CeraVe” campaign joins with “SNL” following the major success of the brand’s viral Michael CeraVe Super Bowl ad last year featuring actor Michael Cera. The brand will collaborate with the long-running NBC sketch comedy show on a parody commercial spotlighting the benefits of the new hair care line.

The premise of the commercial spoof is as follows: the sketch features a parody heavy metal band “Naumôre Dandruf” — featuring “SNL” stars Bowen Yang and Sarah Sherman — along with dermatologist Dr. Dustin Portella, whose head-banging antics send dandruff flying.

Thanks to the band’s dermatologist drummer, Portella knows the solution to “buff up [the] druff” — CeraVe’s Anti-Dandruff Shampoo and Conditioner.

“Our ‘Head of CeraVe’ campaign celebrates the brand’s entry into hair care by breaking the taboos on the subject of dandruff,” Kelly Buchanan Spillers, CeraVe’s global head of digital and social, said in a statement. “We are partnering with highly influential talent that reach audiences of all ages who genuinely understand this condition and share their own experiences with scalp issues,” Buchanan Spillers said.

“We want to raise awareness that dandruff is something that almost 1 in 5 Americans suffer from, and now that CeraVe has entered the category, they can turn to a brand they trust for both their skin care and their hair care needs. Our goal with the ‘Head of CeraVe’ campaign is to raise awareness, foster relatable conversations about previously taboo topics and connect consumers with effective solutions.”
