5 Skin Care Devices and Tools That Firm Skin and Reduce Wrinkles

I am in a perpetual state of decluttering and downsizing. Some of it is simply because of my job, I receive so many beauty products daily that if I weren’t constantly getting rid of the duds (after testing them), I wouldn’t have a square foot of free space in my apartment. This sadly means that I eventually had to whittle down the dozens of skin care tools and devices in my bathroom and keep only the ones I feel are imperative to the health of my skin. It came down to five products—though that may still seem excessive, when I’m through, you’ll understand how each earned its rightful place of permanence.

Editor-Approved Skin Care Devices and Tools

Isamaya x Facegym Sculpt 01 Face and Scalp Tool

Dermstore

Once I discovered electronic skin care tools, I thought I was done with gua shas, jade rollers, and everything in between. Isamaya Ffrench, makeup artist to the stars (like Bella Hadid), would obviously be the person to change that.

This can be used on both the face and scalp. It has four different edges. The ball works great at depuffing and improving circulation of the under eyes and lifting the brow bone. The convex edge can be pressed flat against the face to sculpt and depuff the cheeks, the ridged side is great for the jawbone, and the comb prongs are great for the neck and scalp.

NuFace Fix MicroWand Microcurrent Facial Device

I am freshly 30, so I am beginning to worry about the possible permanence of the fine lines that were once just things in passing. NuFace’s microcurrent devices are loved by celebrities (Kate Hudson, Bella Hadid) and though they like the big boy devices, I prefer this small one. It has three settings: eyes, lips, and lines. These are my three issues. My eyes need perpetual circulation boosts to combat the dark circles and eye bags, I’m borderline paranoid about the loss of volume in my upper lip, and I am worried about two fine lines—my nasolabial folds. This targets all that in a quick jiff.

Medicube Age-R Booster Pro 6-in-1 LED Microcurrent Device

Amazon

If your space, schedule, or finances restrict you to only one device, it should be this all-in-one from Medicube, a Meghan Markle-used brand. By pressing just one button, you can cycle through microcurrent, electric muscle stimulation (EMS), absorption boosting, blemish clearing, radiance enhancing, and an LED that runs concurrently to each of those treatments.

The cherry on top is that, unlike similar devices (even the NuFace), this doesn’t need a special conductive gel. You can use it with the existing products in your routine.

Shark FacialPro Hydro-Powered Facial System

Dermstore

I would have loved to tell you that this wasn’t worth the money, because I get it, $400 is not a measly amount. Unfortunately, this is worth every dollar. It’s a genuinely effective replacement for professional hydrafacial facials that cost up to $250. With two uses of this device, it has paid for itself.

This is a two-step process: the first involves filling the smaller chamber with an exfoliating solution and then suctioning all of the gunk out of your face. It goes into the larger chamber where you can see all of the satisfyingly gross stuff that’s just been cleared out. The second step is to fill the chamber with the hyaluronic acid solution and then apply it to the face to infuse your skin with deep-penetrating moisture.

That’s enough to earn its keep, but there’s more. Swap out the fluid chambers with a curved metal head that has both cryo and heat modalities. Swipe it along your jawbone and facial contours to sculpt, depuff, and enhance radiance.

Pro tip: It comes with regular and sensitive heads. Start with the sensitive heads and work your way up to medium if your skin can tolerate it.

TheraFace Mask Glo-LED Skincare Mask

Nordstrom

A few years ago, TheraFace launched its first-ever LED facial device. It has three types of LED lights, vibrating settings, and 648 bulbs. Despite how much I liked it, $650 is a steep ask, especially when the competition tends to ring in at around $350 to $400.

Well, TheraFace has remedied that with its new Glo LED Mask. It’s nearly half the price of the previous one, yet it has three LED types: red, red-infrared combo, and blue light. It also has three vibration settings, which are different types of facial massages (relaxation, refreshing, and relieving). Twelve minutes a day will lead to brighter, firmer, less wrinkled skin.

The world of skin care devices and tools can be overwhelming, but this is your five-product cheat sheet.
