The journey of Moonskin: From hair woes to haircare success

In October 2023, Moonskin burst onto the haircare scene with an unconventional beginning rooted in a common problem: hair fall. Ahnaf Samin, a student at Macquarie University in Australia, recognised the frustration and anxiety caused by hair loss, which resonated with him and many around him. 

Motivated to create a natural solution, Ahnaf Samin began experimenting with combinations of oils and ingredients, fueled by his dedication to promoting healthier living. Seeking professional expertise, he partnered with a US-based laboratory to refine and test the formulation. 

The result was a hair serum that quickly made waves in the market, receiving widespread praise for its effectiveness across the country.

“I really like the formula of the serum. It is lightweight and non-greasy and can be applied to hair edges, roots and scalp. It needs to sit on the hair for 30-40 minutes before washing with shampoo. I prefer to wash it with their shampoo because I found the formulas complementary,” said Muntaka Isam, a student at Bangladesh University of Professionals.

For overnight usage, one can apply the serum itself on your scalp and hair or mix one dropper full of our hair serum with our coconut oil or any other organic hair oil and then apply it on your hair and scalp. 

“The formulation is specifically designed to tackle hair issues without harmful chemicals. The serum, a blend of natural components, became a hit from day one, paving the way for the brand’s growing product line,” said Ahnaf Samin.

While the hair serum remains Moonskin’s best-seller, their natural shampoo has also quickly gained traction among customers.

“I’ve faced skin problems like acne and the chemical-based products used to make it even worse. And I found that using natural ingredients and natural products helped me way more. Besides, I maintain a healthy life by eating organic and freshly made food and only using organic and natural products. I believe this is how we can live a better and healthier life and also save the environment,” said Ahnaf.

Moonskin’s global journey is fueled by partnerships with manufacturers across different countries, who adhere strictly to their formula while sourcing premium raw materials from around the world.

The brand now has a  65,000-strong customer base in both domestic and international. 

“Once someone buys our product, 80% of the time they become a regular,” added Ahnaf. 

Ahnaf now desires to expand the brand globally while introducing new products to its range, maintaining its reputation as a standout Bangladeshi brand in the international market.
