A new bride got nearly 4 million views on TikTok, all because of her natural beauty.
In early November, Madison Azevedo, 26, posted photos from her October wedding on TikTok, revealing to her viewers that she didn’t wear makeup on her wedding day.
Because she never wears makeup, she wanted her husband to marry her “looking the most like me” and “not what others thought I should look like.”

The wedding itself was also something “simple, elegant, and personal.”
“A lot of the décor was thrifted from antique stores or DIY, which made everything feel really special,” Azevedo tells PEOPLE. “We kept it to close friends and family and our DJ even surprised us with fireworks at the end of the night, which was such a magical moment.”
So if the wedding was going to be authentic, why couldn’t she?
The Wisconsin native says that because her husband has never seen her with makeup on, she didn’t want to become something “different” on her wedding day.
Having gone to prom with a full face of makeup only to regret it later, and having grown up using it to cover her cystic acne, Azevedo wanted people to look at her, not the products on her face.
“Taking care of my skin feels more empowering than covering it,” she says, noting that the only makeup she has is “plain Chapstick and one with a slight tint.”
Asked about her husband’s reaction to her barefaced wedding look, Azevedo tells PEOPLE that her now husband was “so happy.”
“He wanted me to feel beautiful and confident as myself,” she says. “I told him I was worried it might be weird to not wear makeup to my own wedding, and he immediately reassured me that it wouldn’t be — because that’s exactly who I am, and I don’t need to change that or give in to any expectations.”
Many brides in her TikTok comments chimed in with their own makeup-free moments from their weddings. Seeing the reaction she got from people online made her “so happy and fulfilled.”

“I was genuinely surprised by how many other brides went makeup-free. It’s not something that’s talked about or shown very often, and it’s something I hope to change,” Azevedo says.
